JOŽE PLEČNIK: A MODERN CLASSICIST - A LECTURE BY PROF. PETER KREČIČ IN WI
UWM’s Slovenian Arts Council offers a free lecture by Dr. Peter Krečič on Friday, Sept 25 at 4:30 p.m., with reception to follow. The Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) had a huge impact on the modern identity of Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana. A student and later colleague of Viennese architect Otto Wagner, Plečnik’s unique designs are associated with the Vienna Succession/Art Nouveau style.
An art historian, Krečič has been Director of Ljubljana’s Museum of Architecture since 1978 and has taught at the Faculty of Architecture and Faculty of Design in Ljubljana. He has lectured extensively in Europe and in the U.S., has given presentations at UCLA, Catholic University, Princeton, and the University of Minnesota.
